Waterproofing and protecting landfill capping

The Villeparisis waste storage facility in central France can receive up to 250,000 tons of industrial hazardous waste a year. It requires regular repair, such as refurbishing the 54 metre long 20deg slopes that cap a 1500m2 waste storage area. Local regulations called for a waterproofing system and drainage layer against rainfall to be included. Key to its success was stabilising the 30cm of soil covering the capping system.

Unique combination means easier, faster installation

Enkadrain tricomposite proved to be the ideal solution, combining a polypropylene geospacer, polyester woven geotextile and polyamide geomat. This unique partnership offers effective drainage, strong reinforcement and soil stabilistation, all in a single operation, saving time and money during installation. Traffic across the waterproofing geosynthetic layer was also reduced, cutting the risks of damage during the work.

Deadlines, budgets and regulations all met

By using Enkadrain tricomposite the refurbishment project was able to meet the strict regulatory and technical requirements of the French NF G 38-067 standard. These included safety factors on dead loads (soil) and live loads (snow). Enkadrain achieved this while still providing both time and cost savings, enabling the project to hit its budgets and deadlines.
